YMCA Housing works in collaboration with service users that are in crisis by enabling them to secure and maintain a safe place to stay. Positive emotional and mental health and wellbeing is fundamental to the growth and development of an individual, as such YMCA offers a holistic approach, supporting service users to better manage and improve their situation and to develop the confidence and skills to maintain independent living.

We are looking to recruit a Housing Support Worker to be work within the Supported Housing scheme. The successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for providing housing management support to service users of the scheme to ensure they have the relevant information and support to successfully manage their accommodation.

Main duties will include:

  • To complete sign-ups with service users commencing the service, including full induction and application for Housing Benefit.
  • Support service users to effectively manage their rent accounts, ensuring that housing benefit entitlement is secured.
  • Be responsible for conducting weekly accommodation checks with service users and reporting and managing repairs to the accommodation.
  • Support service users to develop understanding of their rights and responsibilities in a Tenancy and develop skills to effectively manage their accommodation.
  • Monitor and update application process to ensure that applicants and service users are informed about the service and their responsibilities for the accommodation.

YMCA Lakeside is a very busy and highly respected Outdoor Education and learning Outside the Classroom Residential Centre based on the edge of Windermere. We are known for delivering inspirational, exciting, and challenging outdoor adventures with a focus on personal and social development.

We are looking to recruit a hardworking, professional, and self-driven leader to take on the Senior Instructor for Paddle sport role here at Lakeside. The ideal candidate will be a passionate individual with a good understanding of the outdoor sector.

The main duties will include:

  • To help lead and deliver staff training, assessments, and monitoring, across all activities with a particular focus on Paddle sports and it’s learning content and structure
  • Take departmental responsibility for Paddle Sports ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Ensure professional and safety standards are maintained, including assisting with programme risk assessment and safe working practice updates.
  • To work closely with the Program Operations and Safety Manager, Senior Instructors, and our technical advisors to provide a clear direction for the instructional team.
  • To monitor, maintain and develop Programme Health and Safety records and information systems.
  • To act as the Duty Instructor and Duty Manager as required (including some weekends)

Job  Purpose:

This post is part of the national Y’s Girls Mentoring programme and will involve working closely with colleagues in YMCA England & Wales, YMCA Scotland and those other YMCAs across the UK who are delivering the programme.  It will also involve working locally with colleagues in social work, police and education to develop mentoring pathways and community engagement.

The post holder will recruit, train and support a team of volunteer mentors (over 18’s) to prevent vulnerable young girls from developing mild to moderate mental health difficulties by engaging them in a range of positive activities. It will engage with other professionals in joint agency referral, support and evaluation processes and will work with other service providers to provide diversion and prevention opportunities to the client group.

The post holder will work as part of a team supporting volunteer mentors to deliver a range of youth work interventions, support and guidance. They will contribute to the national Y’s Girls programme to record and monitor outcomes and to deliver best practice and engage in peer support, as well as work towards developing the evidence base for mentoring in the field of early and effective intervention across the UK.

A working week of 37.5 hours, this will involve delivery after school and early evenings two to three times per week.
