YMCA Housing provide an invaluable service to young people living across the Fylde Coast.
Last year the Fylde coast YMCA team worked with over 70 young people who were homeless or at risk of homelessness.
One recent success story saw a vulnerable young resident move into supported accommodation at the YMCA’s Foyer, Fleetwood.
The young resident was at crisis point having experienced difficulties with an undiagnosed mental health condition.
With the help and support of the housing team the resident was able to engage with doctors and mental health professionals to better understand and manage their mental well-being.
After a period of time the young resident was able to move out of supported accommodation and take on the next step to independence by obtaining their own tenancy.
As a further example of this person’s amazing achievements they have also been volunteering as an assistant leader for the NCS (National Citizen Service).
The housing team have been hugely motivated by this residents success and look forward to helping more vulnerable young people in the future …
