You will be employed in an Apprentice Maintenance Operative role and will study the Level 2 Maintenance Operations qualification in the workplace to gain the underpinning skills and knowledge required to operate effectively in the role.

The work-based qualification combines competence and theoretical knowledge to give learners the practical competence, skills and sector related knowledge to undertake the job.

As an Apprentice Maintenance Operative you will provide support to various tradesmen within the maintenance team as well as working independently carrying out remedial repairs and planned work across the organisation.

The main duties will include:

  • To assist the Maintenance Team wherever necessary across the organisation, undertaking a range of tasks including joinery, plumbing, building works, plastering, minor decoration works, minor flooring works, minor electrical works and other general duties.
  • To work to a Planned Preventative Maintenance System across a range of environments.
  • To carry out unplanned remedial works efficiently across a multi-site operation.
  • To use all Information Technology effectively, such as Microsoft office and AMIS maintenance software.
  • To ensure workspaces are kept clear and health & safety regulations are met.
  • To plan and work out quantities of material required before undertaking works, liaising with suppliers and picking up materials.

The main duties will include:

  1. Provide assistance and crisis support to service users outside of normal office hours, ensuring their health, wellbeing and security.
  2. Control access to the scheme and monitor visitors to ensure the safety of service users.
  3. Maintain the security of the scheme to ensure that the assets of the YMCA are safeguarded.
  4. Ensure that staff presence is maintained at all times
  5. Respond promptly and positively to any issues or incidents that arise, ensuring that these are fully documented on the YMCA associated paperwork.

We are looking to recruit a Housing Support Worker to work within the Supported Housing scheme. The successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for providing housing management support to service users of the scheme to ensure they have the relevant information and support to successfully manage their accommodation.

The position will include evening and weekend work, a flexible approach is essential. Previous administration experience is essential for this position and applicants should be educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

The main duties will include:

  • To complete sign-ups with service users commencing the service, including full induction and application for Housing Benefit.
  • Support service users to effectively manage their rent accounts, ensuring that housing benefit entitlement is secured.
  • Be responsible for conducting weekly accommodation checks with service users and reporting and managing repairs to the accommodation.
  • Support service users to develop understanding of their rights and responsibilities in a Tenancy and develop skills to effectively manage their accommodation.
  • Monitor and update application process to ensure that applicants and service users are informed about the service and their responsibilities for the accommodation.

The main duties will include: ~

  • To work with children and young people on a one to one basis to identify, assess and explore any emotional/mental health and wellbeing issues that may affect their ability to live happy and healthy lives.
  • To offer a range of therapeutic interventions

We are currently looking for volunteers for assist with the running of the Funpod Foxes sessions. The sessions are multi sports in nature and are for children (8+) and adults with a disability. We are also currently looking for volunteers to assist us with the running of the Fylde Sharks disability swimming sessions. Volunteering opportunities exist in areas ranging from administration duties to swimming assistants. In addition, the team are in need of ASA qualified swimming teachers. The sessions offer one-to one swimming lessons to disabled children and young people up to 18 years of age. Day Camp Leader Volunteers x 16 (Saturday 21st July – 31st August 2018) £50 a week expenses plus full board and accommodation. Would you like to gain experience working with and being responsible for children? Have you got bags of enthusiasm and energy, a great sense of humour, full of fun and a commitment to give 5 weeks of your summer? If so, this placement is designed for you. You will receive 1 week’s intensive training in what you will need to learn and then you will spend 4 weeks, Monday to Friday as leaders within our Day Camp Programme.  Join our team for the summer and make friends for life.

Tommys Boxing Club

Do you have experience in boxing? Do you want to get involved in boxing? Do you want to help young people through a diversionary activity? Tommy’s Youth Club based at YMCA Lofthouse in Fleetwood are looking for volunteers to assist in the running and organisation of their Boxing Club. The club has just won the North West Junior Boxing Club of the year. We are looking for volunteers who want to assist in taking the club to the next level and become part of something special.

Our Supported Housing services and YMCA Face to Face provide support for some of the most vulnerable in society; if you would like to use your professional skills or develop skills within the following areas;

Volunteer Counsellor; Our volunteer counsellors support individuals within the Fylde area that require support, our counsellors work with a wide range of individuals and provide a much needed service within the area.  The YMCA is unable to accept applications from individuals who are not working towards their Diploma in Counselling from an accredited provider. YMCA Face to Face is only able to accept applications from individuals who need to complete 100 hours of counselling placement hours or currently qualified counsellors
